Happy New Year, Bonne Année!

Still in Paris, living under roofs the majority of the time, both at the office – with a beautiful view of the Sacré Coeur – and in my little room with hexagonal red tiles on the floor and a tiny skylight.

Day Two.

Map in hand, I crossed Paris yesterday to the Musée Rodin to see marble turned into skin.   The  way in which Rodin graduated rough, shimmering marble bases into the satin smooth skin of youth, the flacidness of elderly creases or even lace is incredible.  It served to remind me of the uniqueness of this master who had the ambition to reach the perfection of reality with solid blocks of a single material.

Outside the bronzes, including ‘The Thinker’, were lost in roses in front of the 18th century Hôtel Biron, with a view on the golden ‘Invalides’ dome.  Hello, Paris!

While time passes in and out of days I am relaxing with a few still life exercises!  After the treadmill of the final terms of school, time is on my side and coincidently the weather against it, so I am revisiting observation rather than invention.
